WAUKESHA, Wisc. — Cabin Life magazine is the newest member of the Kalmbach Publishing Co. enthusiast-magazine portfolio. Kalmbach acquires the 9-year-old publication from Fladmark Publishing Company in Duluth, Minnesota. Toni Fladmark will stay on as publisher, and the publication will remain at its office in Duluth.|
“Cabin Life’s core readers share many of the same values and passion that drive the readers of Kalmbach magazines,” says Chuck Croft, executive vice president of Kalmbach Publishing Co. “We believe Cabin Life fits very well with Kalmbach’s mission, and we see growth potential for the publication and its web site.”
Published eight times a year, Cabin Life targets owners of cabins, cottages, and lake homes. These owners share a common interest in exploring all aspects of vacation home living. They share an enthusiasm and passion for the lifestyle and the outdoors, and value their second home as a place to build lifelong memories with their families. The magazine covers interests of second-home building and improvement, lake property maintenance, boating, real estate, entertaining family and friends, and décor.
“We’re excited to join forces with Kalmbach,” says Fladmark. “Over the years, Kalmbach has generously shared its expertise and resources with Cabin Life, and we’ve built a relationship of trust. In 2010, Cabin Life will celebrate its 10th anniversary, and with Kalmbach’s resources and 75 years of experience, the best is yet to come.”
Awards the magazine has earned exemplify the staff’s commitment to editorial excellence — two Gold Eddies, an Ozzie for Design Excellence, two Gold Inks, and 17 Gold MMPAs (Minnesota Magazines & Publications Association).
“Toni and her team have created a fantastic resource for cabin owners, and we intend to keep it that way,” says Scott Stollberg, Kalmbach’s vice president of advertising.
Kalmbach Publishing Co. is an independent, niche publisher that produces the world's best-selling magazines for model railroading (Model Railroader), scale modeling (FineScale Modeler and Scale Auto), beaded jewelry making (BeadStyle and Bead&Button), astronomy (Astronomy), and railroading (Trains).
