WAUKESHA, WI — Kalmbach Publishing Co.'s The Writer magazine received a 2006 silver Eddie Award for Editorial Excellence, presented by Folio magazine. This is the fifth consecutive year that The Writer has received an Eddie. Winners of the 2006 awards were announced Oct. 22 at the Folio Show Awards Gala in New York City.
Entrants to the prestigious annual competition are scored by a panel of top editors, publishers, and consultants on the following criteria: 1) how well the magazine fulfills its mission statement; 2) the quality of the magazine's content; and 3) how the overall design and production supports the magazine's mission.
This year the competition included more than 2,200 entries in 90 categories, and more than 100 expert judges spent months assessing submissions.
Other winners in this year's publishing/journalism category were Billboard (gold) and Written By (bronze). Click here to see complete list of the 2006 Eddie and Ozzie Award winners.
